My Design Philosophy
Design is messy, but you have to adjust with it
While design involves art, I don’t believe that design is artful. It can tend to be messy and involve many alterations, rescopes, changes, etc. While this can create a little skepticism, (at least it did for me starting out) I believe designers have a role in being flexible and accounting for this messiness. The design process will never be the same for any task at hand. With experience comes methods for understanding how to create an actionable design plan that adjusts and works with the current design situation.
All design should be done intentionally and meaningfully
To design well is to design with a purpose and set intentions. My ambition is to place stakeholders’ needs at the core of my work while designing intentionally and empathetically to craft human-centered experiences. I believe all design decisions should refer back to a set of intentions that include stakeholder pain points, goals, and end-to-end user experience principles.
Design is bold and risky
I believe design is risky, ever-changing, and that it breaks limitations. If designers continue to craft things that don’t address barriers and continue to stay within certain limits, how can we expect to build a better future and create enhancing experiences?
